Unable to switch on Hardware Acceleration

Hi-- I started a new job and when I began using Autocad on my new computer, I saw that my object highlighting was set to the old standard (dashed) but I wanted it to glow blue, per the new standard. I tried to fix it on my own and it lead me to the Hardware Acceleration setting, which I believe is the key to changing the selection setting to what I want, except I cannot flip the switch in the box or basically select anything besides "ok" or "cancel". PLEASE HELP I just want my selections to glow blue.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the AutoCAD forum!

Unfortunately not all graphics cards support the hardware acceleration feature. However, per this article on how to change object highlighting, you should be able to use the SELECTIONEFFECT and PRESELECTIONEFFECT system variables to change it back to the newer highlighting standard.

If that doesn't work, resetting AutoCAD to defaults should restore the blue glow highlighting.
