Hi,

I suggest to check your layers status .. LAYON  and/or LAYTHW commands may fix your issue.

The second image shows that the object you are trying to copy is an xref. So the command fails. Use the XREF command to reference the file instead of copying it. Alternatively, you can try right clicking and choose Clipboard>Paste As Block instead of just Paste.

I wondered about that, too, since I had never thought to copy/paste an Xref, so I experimented.  I Xref'd a small drawing into another, and Ctrl+C copied it from there, then Ctrl-V pasted it into a different other drawing, and it did come in successfully, and as an Xref.  So I think that in itself is probably not the issue.  I am inclined to share @imadHabash's suspicion about the Layer(s) of what is pasted being off or frozen.

@Kent1Cooper I just did some more tests with layers locked/off/frozen. I was unable to duplicate the OP's results. The current layer can't be frozen. The xref pasted to a locked and off layer and all the xref layers were on. I did this pasting into a clean dwg.  @Soumya.Naik We would have to have a copy of your dwg and xref to test further.

@Kent1Cooper they are DI blocks and polylines from another drawing but not sure why its showing that as a xref. In fact I'm not able to paste anything into this drawing from any other drawings not even text, lines, block nothing.
