Trying to copy/paste simple lines in the same layer.

I'm building the base of a shape that will be extended into a 3D model, and ported out of AutoCAD. I am currently on a simple .dwg file, and have tried using the clipboard's cut, copy and paste commands, but it doesn't change anything.

Here it is. This is my first time using the software, but I'm just working towards a repeated pattern of the spikes on the right side. I feel it would be more efficient to copy the dimensions to remain consistent, rather than estimating by hand.

There are no dimension objects in your file.

Figured it out. Didn't know I had to confirm twice after selecting the lines.

A couple things...when you create a copy or move a selection, does it always have you move with respect to the origin, or can that be changed? Also, just to clarify, I am looking to create a base shape, fill it in, and then extend that into three dimensions. Will that work with this approach?

COPY/PASTE functions (CTRL+C then CTRL+V) do not require confirmation twice: since you are asking about something else now, did you ask about the wrong thing?

MOVE and COPY commands need a start (where from) and an end choice (where to) from you in AutoCAD, and you have to tell the program when you're done selecting the object(s). If you want to avoid that, learn how to gripedit move and copy instead.

Copy clip is used to transfer items from one file to another. Use copy to make copies within a dwg.
