TRIM EXTEND

What is the system setting that controls how an implied edge is seen? i tried trimextendmode and that didn't work wanting to set it to trim and cut to an impliede edge, not just a crossing line.

Just go into either command, and you can set it via the Edge option and its [Extend/No extend] choice:

Select object to extend or shift-select to trim or
[Fence/Crossing/Project/Edge]: E
Enter an implied edge extension mode [Extend/No extend] <No extend>:
