TRIM COMMAND PROBLEM FOR 2019 AUTOCAD

I can not use the trim command in AutoCAD 2019 as it was in previous versions. After I select the object, it trims everything . How can I solve this problem?

Hi @Anonymous,

There has been no change in the TRIM command that I am aware of.  Can you make a quick Screencast or give me the detailed steps and maybe screen captures that show how you are using the command?

After I select the rectangle object, I write the trim command. then I cut the red line. I can trim this way in AutoCAD 2013. But I can not cut the line I want when I have AutoCAD 2019 selection.
I select the rectangle object to delete the red line and enter the trim command. but it does not erase the red line. erase the rectangle, or delete both.

Sounds like you are triggering the <enter> function twice (which selects everything on screen instead of once (to select individual items): is that what you mean by "it trims everything"?

Hi @Anonymous,

It sounds as if your PICKFIRST variable is turned off perhaps.  You can open OPTIONS and go to the Selection tab. Under selection modes, turn on Noun/Verb selection.  You can also turn it on at the command line by typing PICKFIRST and setting the value to 1.

Please let me know if this corrects the behavior.

Hi @Anonymous,

Do you still have 2013 installed? Can you make a Screencast video of how this behaves there and how it is behaving now in 2019?

HI @Anonymous,

Next week is fine. I will watch the thread for an update from you.

Screencast can be downloaded from here if you don't already have it installed.

Hi @Anonymous,

I apologize for  my delayed response on this.  I have watched your video repeatedly - thank you for taking the time to make it.  I cannot make AutoCAD 2016-2019 act like that so I am still researching.

In your options, do you have "Show grips within blocks" selected?  Is your rectangle/sqaure a block because then it does behave differently?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Please type ABOUT at the AutoCAD command line and tell me the exact version of AutoCAD you are using.  There was a selection hotfix made available but it has been rolled into the updates.

To make sure that your AutoCAD is fully updated, please use your Autodesk Desktop App or obtain updates from your account page.

Thank you @john.vellek. Indeed I'm a new member to the community. I'm using the Autodesk AutoCAD 2019 - Student Version. And I've fixed the issue. Type TRIM in the command bar and press the enter button twice. This should fix it. It worked for me.

Thanks Aditya,

You have solved the problem. These guys just make money by changing the versions and making lots of problem for the people who used to use previous versions, and most changes are stupid and there is no valid reason for that, like removing the previous icon and function for Trimming.
