TORIENT COMMAND NOT WORKING

Anonymous
Not applicable

AutoCAD 2019 is giving me this error message any time I try to use the TORIENT command:

Command: TORIENT
(*pop-error-mode*) underflow.
Cannot invoke (command) from *error* without prior call to (*push-error-using-command*).
Converting (command) calls to (command-s) is recommended.

What should I do?

Hi,

on my side TORIENT works well with AutoCAD 2019.1.2

If you have migrated settings, maybe it's pointing to old Express-Tools?

I don't know it's still part of Express Tools. Did you install it?

It has been working fine.  But for some reason today it became corrupt.  Also, I don't know how to locate that menu?

When was it working well last time and which version of AutoCAD have you had when it was working?

If it is just an issue now please restart your workstation and also try the same with a new file.

It appears to be working in other files. Just not in my current file.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Hi,

>> It appears to be working in other files

OK, then it might be any of the drawing's objects that creates issues with the command. You might run command _AUDIT in this drawing to see if there are any issues in the dwg-database.

If that works well you might select only half of the objects and start the command or delete half of the content up to the state you see when it's working.

Most important: your AutoCAD installation does not have an issue with TORIENT 😉

1. Open AutoCAD new file and press F2 log file, please upload

2. lisp or plugin is running on AutoCAD, it to be remove "reset AutoCAD to defaults"

   after its works

Thanks

Hi @jayhar

why resetting settings to default (and so loose all customization) when the issue is file dependent (which means the command works well with all but one file)?

I can't recommend this.

Hi @Alfred.NESWADBA,

1. Error in command line not only for TORIENT another way also i seen...

2. May be lisp files loaded some errors comes, for example "bad argument type error" or “ss:startup” information when   new cad file opens. Without log file cannot be confirm.

3. 'command works well with all but one file' ok already clear information @pendean give in post

Thanks

As a starter to recommend the settings to reset is really bad, especially if you already have
the thought that there may be customizations here (your comment on ss:startup).

But to ask about the log, because of the background you wrote about as point 2)  is very good.

We can change the Torient code in that kind that this error will gone, but the source problem is  at another location.

@Anonymous

As first: Please try it again with a fresh started AutoCAD and just this dwg. Appears the error now? ok

Please upload your log like Jayhar has described and if it is possible for you: Your dwg too.

Sometime we can see invisible things inside the dwg which one can draw helpful conclusions for us.

or maybe go to recover first  before opening your file to repair your damaged file and see if helps. thanks

Thank you for all helpful responses!

I ended up restarting my computer and then "recovering" the CAD file.

This is only a temporary solution. I have been experiencing this issue for years. Closing and reopening DWGs fixes it every time. But eventually after about 20 or so uses of the command, it stops working again. The is something in the command that needs to be fixed, or an error handler update.

Having same issue, 9/10/20 hopeful that AutoDesk takes a look at this thread. Like this comment if you also are still having this error issue. Torient is a very helpful command, but unreliable.
