why are my toolbars not showing all the buttons? the ends of the toolbars, the buttons are either only half showing or not showing at all. when I switch from light theme to dark theme in options/display tab and hit apply they show up. as soon as I hit OK to exit options they disappear again.

2018 version, Windows 10 Enterprise version 1607, Elitebook laptop Intel CORE 17 vPro7th Gen, connected to a docking station and monitor.

I am not sure how to access my video card information.

Below you can see I am using classic toolbars. which was very hard to figure out how to make this happen. but you can see on the lower left on the dimension tool bar they is supposed to be a dimline with a paint brush on top which is intended to take you to Dimension Style. you can also see some of the other tool bars are only showing half of the last button. (I.E. the Text toolbar, Dimconstraint toolbar, etc.)

Below that you can see that I have my options window open and have changed to the light color scheme this is after I hit apply but before I hit OK to close the options pop up. Once I hit OK it will look just like the top dark color scheme

I just figured this out from another forum AutoCAD and Windows 10 doe snot play nice together. I changed my font size in Windows from 125% to 100% and it fixed the issue. However, this was not the case yesterday. everything was fine just the way it was. now I have really small icons in AutoCAD.

I really wish AutoCAD would stop making itself incompatible with Windows. Same with Adobe. They just do not care anymore what changes they make to their programs that Windows interacts with and visa versa. Windows could probably do something on their end to make it more compatible.

Thank you for responding to my issue. I see you are quite knowledgeable. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Read this about scaling in Windows display settings, the program is only designed to work at 100% and your options are limited https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Odd-gr...

FWIW 2018 icons have a scaling issue that is well known. It appears Autodesk may only fix it in 2019 and not in 2018 ever.

Q: why are you still hanging on to toolbars? The Ribbon, once customized, and used along a fully populated QAT, makes them obsolete for us old timers that cherish screen real0estate for drafting.

Hi Dean, thank yo for responding. I will look at some of the settings in the article you sent.

I guess since I was self taught and have worked with AutoCAD since release 8, I have always used the toolbars. I did not care to take the time to try and customize the ribbons because the toolbars were not broken. 🙂 why fix something that is not broken.

If you eat with using your fork in your left hand why would you change to your right hand if the left hand is still intact? And The way my mind works having more real estate to work with just means I have to mow more. Some just see it from another perspective I guess.

At one time I was very knowledgeable with AutoCAD. Before it was part of AutoCAD I wrote my own COPY/ROTATE lisp routine. Over the years job promotions did not require me to use AutoCAD as much. Especially around the time they went to Ribbons. I did not care for it as it appears some of the Icons changed or seemed to change.

Sometimes that old road you go down everyday is a bit comforting in that it is something you know will not change,  and you can almost drive it with your eyes closed. I understand someone may find a way to build a better mouse trap, But quite frankly I like the old snap kind. you can hear it when it goes off and it is 97% reliable. It is OK for someone to use the new mouse trap, but please do not take my old ones away.

Thank you again for your help and expertise. It is very welcomed and inspiring, at least by this old fart that refuses to change to Ribbons. 🙂 Sorry for all the old cliché's

We are all old farts around here: I started with AutoCAD R9 in DOS, self taught too, moved to converting the entire office (15 users) within a couple of years to the rocket R10-386 DOS version 🙂
