tool pallet insert of dynamic blocks by default block layer on non-print

Anonymous

When inserting a dynamic block from my user created tool pallet by default in acad 2017 the new layer that came in with my block that I just inserted is on non-print.

example :

drag & drop section cut dynamic block from tool pallet to current drawing.

the layer the section cut block is on is "section cut"

when viewed in layer properties manager the "section cut" layer is now by default non-print

it does this for all of my blocks that I drag and drop from the tool pallet. I have not had this problem until version 2017

i need to know how to fix it as it is very frustrating and time consuming to check each time to see if all layers or going to print that should

Hi @Anonymous,

I have seen this a couple of times recently. If you rt-click on the block in the Tool Palette, what is the layer it is assigned to be inserted on?

Hi @Anonymous,

I haven't seen an update on your post but I did locate this prior post with the same (I think) problem and how it was resolved. It involves editing your palette with Notepad. I would still like to know what the palette block settings look like in your environment. Just rt-click and do a screen capture for me please.

Please let me know it this works for you as well.

The layer the different blocks are assigned to are the layers that correspond to the block, ie the elevation mark is on elevmark layer

the section cut is on the sectioncut layer etc.

i have noticed that if the layer already exists when i drag and drop the blocks from the tool pallet then they are not on the non-print setting

however, if the layer does not exist in the drawing then when i bring the block in from the tool pallet by default it makes that layer non-print

i think that your suggestion here may be a work around for me, however, I do not know how the person was able to do what they did. i need a little more direction other than the screen shot that is shown as a "solution" not a lot of direction, just a little more than the screen shot

Hi @Anonymous,

Simply locate your palette file C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\R21.0\enu\Support\ToolPalette.

Rt-click and open it with Notepad. 🙂

Hi @Anonymous,

Is it possible that you have more than one palette file loading? Check your Options File tab to see the locations.

You could also search your system for ATC files.

You are also welcome to attach the file(s) so i can take a look for you also.  Did you migrate your old palettes?

I have had a full day today. I ran the find and replace on my pc and co-workers pc.

His is working properly now, however after running it on the atc files I found on my pc I am still having the issue. So I have missed the correct file somehow.

Hi @Anonymous,

It sounds as if you are making progress. Is it possible to just copy your co-workers palette files onto your workstation?
