TOC files appear when opening any cad file

I have had a constant problem recently, every time I try to open an autocad file, several TOC files are created in the folder where the main file is hosted, and they are not deleted when I finish using the application.

I dont know, I only installed CADERTH, And some Qgis plugins like JOSM EDITOR

@lssuarez These look like encrypted files, the sort you might get when your are about to be slapped with ransomware? Are these showing up elsewhere on your PC? on other non-project folders?

What/where is this folder? perhaps that is creating these for you?

Does that have some sort of encrypted backup or versioning or something?

You need to engage with your IT folks or friend or repair shop.

Did these files show up since then?

Do yourself a huge favor an turn on file extensions so you rely less on possible misguided Windows file descriptions.

.toc files do seem to be associated with some GIS apps, though I'm not sure that's what's going on here (those tools are outside of my wheelhouse). If you uninstall those plugins does the file creation stop?

Interesting: they are all 1kb in size, aka more like pointers etc.
