The JOIN command doesn't really join splines

I drew 2 CV Splines and joined them with JOIN. the endpoints indeed join (i started the second spline at end of the first) but when i move the connecting vertex it doesn't behave like the rest of the vertices. it merely drags the end points.

Not sure if this helps, but if you, after joining, delete the CV that joins the two splines, it acts a lot smoother.  I found that I had to use the exit options to complete the deleting of the CV.
