Text goes black while editing through a viewport

While I am in paper space, if I go to a viewport to edit text that is in model space the text isn't visible (so I can't see what I am editing).  I can edit fine when I  go to model space.  It just won't let me edit within a viewport.  Please help!

Have you tried to turning off "hardware acceleration"?

GRAPHICSCONFIG is the command.

FYI

"Disable hardware acceleration only if you experiencing graphics issues or have an incompatible video card."

Your AutoCAD variant and year version is...?
Your Windows OS version is...?
Your video card as being used in GRAPHICSCONFIG command is...?

Is the problem in ALL files, or just this one file? Find out.
