Text exploded but goes to wireframe

When I explode a word or text it does not keep its shape but becomes wireframe.
I want to be able to lasercut the actual shape of the text.
Why does this happen?

Can you show what you had before exploding, then what command you used to explode text and what you get after exploding?

If you used the Express-Tools command _TXTEXP then the result is the outline (and some lines between), that has to be cleaned manually.

When you do lasercutting ... why would you then need the filling, aren't the outlines are what you need?
