Table Text Style Change or Reset Table Text Style

Several drawings of mine have tables.  For some reason, certain cells have a different text style.  I have tried several ways to fix the entire table but nothing is working.

I have tried changing the entire Table Style in the properties menu.  I select the group of cells, change the text style in the properties menu and there is still no change.  I tried the Remove All Property Overrides function and this works on certain cells but not the cells I am trying to fix.

If I select a cell individually, the text editor opens up and I can change the text style there.  This change will affect this individual cell.  After the text editor style change is made, this cell functions correctly and allows me to make changes using the Text Style option from the properties menu.  It appears that certain cells in my table has text style overrides that can't be reset as a group.

Any ideas on how to force a table to default style settings without having to manually select cells?

Hi @shane.briggsHWGER,

That is unusual, and would be frustrating.  It almost sounds like the text styles assigned to these cells may be damaged or corrupted.

If that is the case, you could try repairing the file:

Thank you for the reply.  I tried the Purge, Audit & Recover but had no luck.  That being said, I did figure out a couple ways to make things work.

In the forum question below (link below) I found the StripMtext v5-0b.lsp.  I ran the executable file and used it on the existing table I was having trouble with.  The existing text styles were cleared in all the rows and then I was able to change text styles for groups of cells as needed.  This was perfect, because it helped me fix a large table with multiple lines really quickly.

For the new drawing index files I am working on, my plan is to transfer lines of Mtext into a table.  I found that if I change the existing Mtext to my desired Text Style before I copy and paste, there are no issues and everything functions as expected.

To keep everything organized, the TEXT in a table should be controled by the TABLE STYLE, not the Text Style itself.

The Text Style merely lives inside the TABLE STYLE so if you want to change the text that's displayed in a Table, then change the Text Style that's currently living in the TABLE STYLE. Refer to image below.

Changing the Text Style in a Table Style will change the text in all tables using that specific Table Style.

<<The Text style changes that have already occured using your Properties Palette are over riding the settings in the Table Style. This is akin to changing an object's color using the Properties Palette instead of changing the layer color itself in the Layer Properties Manager. No matter what color you assign to a specific layer, the object's color will continue to comply with the color established in the Properties Manager because the ByLayer parameter for object color has been over ridden.>>
