Symbol Font not displaying in 2019

In 2017 I use a simplex.shx file to display Symbols (i.e. CL and PL) in MTEXT. I have Upgraded to 2019 and I am using the same simplex.shx Font File.

The Symbols in 2019 will only display with the ISOCPEUR Font. Is there a setting/solution for this issue?

I have made sure that my FONTALT is set to simplex.shx

I have made sure that the simplex.shx is in the Search Files

Hi @mconway,

I made a quick video of how this is behaving on my side in AutoCAD 2019.  I have a piece of Mtext that uses the standard style (using Arial) and I am able to insert a symbol such as a centerline or property line. I can also change or override the Arial with Simplex and insert the same characters.

Have you tried using the Windows Character Map tool to select the character from the correct font and then using Copy and paste to put it into a text object?

I have used the Character Map Tool. The result even after a Copy and Paste is the same ISOCPEUR Font.

If I select Paste Special and Paste without Character Formatting, I get a Question Mark as if the software cannot see the characters in the simlex.shx file. This is the exact same shx file that I used in 2017 so I know that the characters are in there.

I'm currently going through all of my 2017 support File Paths to see if there isn't a magic simplex.shx file hiding in there somewhere.

Hi @mconway,

Yes, looking for duplicate fonts in your system or current working folder might fix this issue. In case your Simplex is "broken" I have attached mine from AutoCAD 2019.

Adding your attached Font file to the Font Folder in my Search Path was Solution to my problem. However, I am curious as to where 2017 is pulling these Symbols from.

When I have extra time, I will investigate this situation

Thank you for your help, John
