Surface creating strange mesh

I've built a 2D geometry to use for asymmetric wind tunnel testing but I'm getting weird meshes. I started with a series of points (about 300+) that I connected using a polyline. I then converted the 2D polyline into a region (REGION), and then converted it to a surface (CONVTOSURFACE). I then use the Mesh dialog (set to mostly quad) to create a mesh. I'm getting a strange mesh. I'm expecting perpendicular straight lines, but I'm getting slanted lines in all directions. Am I missing something? Did I build my model from points incorrectly? I'm using Windows 10, Student Edition of Autodesk Autocad 2022.

*Note: the final geometry has to be a surface/solid so I can export it to Ansys. Polylines produce wireframes, even when hatch/filled.

@bmoul001 ,

After downloading the file and opening, the file looks as you expect (see below).

I have provided you a dxf and sat file (attached).

Make sure all updates are to date and consider a repair (link).

Is the photo you provided before meshing the surface, or does the command CONVTOSURFACE create its own mesh? I did get this image when I used the command CONVTOSURFACE but didn't think that was the actual mesh.

@bmoul001 ,

The image below is NOT a mesh, but a Surface (Planar).

However, when you used CONVERTOMESH the following command makes you aware that "inadequate...mesh representation".

After accepting to "Create mesh", it shows as it should and as 'Mesh' in the properties. (Not a 3D Solid)

So is there no way to get the mesh to look more uniform, like in the surface planar picture, because it isn't a primitive solid? Sorry if this is redundant I'm just trying to make sure that my drawing is ok for analysis.

@bmoul001 ,

You can make it more uniform if you use another Autodesk software like Civil 3D and using its features.

The drawing is attached.

Hope this helps.
