Subscription and upgrades

Just got off the phone with AutoDesk Sales, Need to upgrade to Full Autocad (currently have autocad lt) They have no way of upgrading the product while in a current subscription, have to pay for both or buy tokens for the next 6 months to use the product I need until my current subscription runs out, Would think a software company this big would have a way of upgrading without making paying customers pay for the same product just better and when im willing to pay for the more expensive product. Its would be like going to a car dealership wanting to buy a new car and them saying you need to drive your old car till its all paid off, can't trade it in just stuck with it Has anyone found or heard of a work around for this?

Unfortunately I don't ever recall Autodesk offering a path to upgrade from LT to full AutoCAD.

So if you've paid for an annual subscription to LT, there's no option to upgrade this to full AutoCAD.

I'm not sure if I understand you. When I hear 'Upgrade' I hear Improvement......and that costs more money.

For example, I buy an airplane ticket for an economy seat. Prior to boarding I see an ad on my phone for spacious and First Class. I upgrade without incurring additional fees?

And does going to church on Sundays and volunteering at a soup kitchen weigh in when getting a free upgrade?

I don't think AutoCAD is like buying a car. It's more akin to getting your drivers license. Yes, you need a valid license for AutoCAD, pirated copies are a no-no. Your drivers license can be revoked under certain conditions; e.g. too many tickets, you become physically impaired.

Mr. Bill Gates and his associates my upgrade Windows and that upgrade makes AutoCAD unusable unless you get a patch. Autodesk may decide to no longer send out patches for your software version (too expensive to deal with old Windows patches?) but still offer a new Acad version that will be friendly with new Windows.  Who's to blame? Windows or Cad?

Yes you missed my point. I have a a valid license for AutoCAD LT (3 year subscription), wanted to upgrade to Full autocad now instead of waiting 6 months for my Autocad LT to expire, was hoping it could be transfered towards an upgrade and willing to pay the difference. Not looking for anything free. Autodesk does not have that. So many of my Enginnering programs and Adobe programs have that option, just frustrating that Autodesk does not have that option. So im talking your airplan ticket example not the soup kitchen one.

That is what they are telling me, I was hoping that if I upgraded it would give me credit for the remainder of the Autocad LT subscription and I would pay the difference on the full autocad subscription to cover the difference and I could start working with the full version right away, but the only solution the had was to wait till the Autocad lt subscription runs out, cancel it and then subscribe to the full version. So many of my Enginnering programs and Adobe programs have that option, just frustrating that Autodesk does not have that option.

Different software companies have different product sales options.

For example I don't believe Adobe nor Microsoft have a flex or token purchase option like Autodesk does.

Just like AutoCAD, Adobe has a monthly subscription and a yearly subscription. Unlike AutoCAD though, Adobe license is the same, just different payment options so the increase in cost occurring by upgrade is managed through 'accounting practices' not through their licensing agreement.

AutoCAD, however, has separate licenses for LT and full version. They're different products that have different licenses and each one has their own individual payment options.   

A license for software provides you, the purchaser, certain rights. Upgrading from license-to-license and not just from program-to-program is hardwired into the software sales transaction. Although it would create better customer relations if a user decided to upgrade from product-to-product, I'm sure the legal ramifications for a company, whether big or small, would limit what they can and cannot do.
