1. You are in a USER Forum, we can say what we what, your corporation's Legal Department gives you a smile, nothing more - sorry.
2. We have NEVER EVER had a student version at this location.
Ok, not in this location, but at home? in other companies? Internet?
One or more files come from a Student version, a program with faulty DWG export,
or somebody who's working with that files copied somethings from these files to your file(s) and used an older version.
Doesn't matter where the worker worked or from where the EDU file came from, Your Students,
Colleagues, Customers, Manufacturer (that would be very unusual, but theoretically possible)
3. "So this kind of makes AutoCAD a real dud of a platform as you cannot use. "
Except one special version AutoCAD 2014SP1 alert the warning when you open such a file
and working with data from these file in 2015 or higher is not a problem.
4. You are right, message is not perfect, but you can not alert about all possible cases just to say: It's not for commercial usage!"
5. Is this the official AutoDesk response?
We are not Autodesk, but: Autodesk tells you only the facts like we too, that's all.
A Supporter like me would teach how it works, would first explain everything as you can already read
it here (and a little better), then strategy for new files inhouse and for new entries from outside
and finally strategy for existing files.
6. Is this the official AutoDesk response?
Official response is a link the rules and eula - whatever
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/FAQ-Rein...
I am near to sure that you won't find a Person who talk as "AutoDESK".
7 . Why you post in a public user forum instead to ask the Support?
