Strange text question

When I move my cursor over one of my text lines in a drawing a weird little 3 pointed thing pops up.  

What is it and why can't I copy that particular text into any other drawings?

Hi @Anonymous,

That symbol indicates that the text is Annotative Scaling.  As to why you can't copy the text, can you attach the drawing so I can take a look?

Thanks for the info.  I was able to turn off the annotation on that particular text.

I have no idea how it got that way, it is the only text with it.

It was on my border which is XREF'ed into my working sheets, and for some reason the text showed up in one drawing, but not the other.

Perhaps it picked up an Annotative text style somehow. I can only guess that it wasn't showing up on some other drawings because the scale was set differently.

First time I have dealt with this in about 23 years of using AutoCAD.

I miss the days when they didn't have all the bells and whistles.

I go as far back as version 1. I understand the wish for simplicity but at the end of the day I opt for having the more powerful tools in most cases even with the added complexity.....Ya just wonder if kids can draw by hand?

Kids can't even read or write cursive.  

It took me an hour to find a pencil in my new office.  And I had to order a pencil sharpener because no had or pretty much seen one in years.

Times have changed.

Depending on the type of drafting you do, annotative scaling can be a real time saver.
