I am at wits end with this thing. I noticed that my Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V function in AutoCAD Release 2018 wasn’t working. Copy and paste from the tool bars is working fine, just the keyboard shortcuts in AutoCAD are not. The problem appeared suddenly and I have been through as many configurations that I can think of and still cannot get a resolution.
I did some trouble shooting. I found that Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V does work in other windows functions (Word, Excel, Outlook and even Notepad). None of the other keyboard shortcuts in AutoCAD work either (CTRL+O, CTRL+P, etc). When I use Ctrl+C, the command prompt shows *cancel*, and when I do have something in the clipboard (put there from the copyclip command) and I use CTRL+V, nothing happens. Typing in “Copyclip” works, so does “Pasteclip.” The copy and paste function in the tool bar works also.
I’ve done some online research and have discovered talk points on errors like “Duplicate definition of block _Dot ignored,” and “Substituting [simplex.shx] for [GCAD.SHX].” I’m not getting ant error codes or warning prompts.
Other talk points focus on file management and configurations. This happens in all drawings, it does not matter how many or how few I have open. I have cleared out temp files, I have changed the “Pickfirst” variable and got no results. I don’t have any user account limitations and there are no add-ins that were purchased with the current version.
I only got full AutoCAD 2 months ago and have made no customized menu file changes, but I did open the Customize User Interface and copy the keyboard short cuts menus from the main file to the “customizations in the new file.” Still no results.
I have also done perfunctory measures like restarting my computer and alternate using either control key, neither of which helped. The version of AutoCAD LT Release 2015 that I have works fine.
I’m open for suggestions.
