Startup tab empty but working

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I recently installed Autocad 2019 student and had some issues to make it work. My projects did not display anything when I opened them, now I can work fine after adding "/nohardware" to the shortcut and starting the program as an administrator.

The only issue left is the Startup tab, it works but it's completely empty at the same time. I can click on every button that's supposed to be on the tab, but I can't see them. When I open a project and close it, the startup tab "copies" what my project displayed. If I shrink the window and then expand it I can see the borders of the windows repeating multiple times in the tab.

I already tried :

  • Updating Autocad
  • Updating my drivers
  • Repairing Autocad
  • Reinstalling Autocad
  • Deleting the temp folder

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

If both is needed then you have issues with your Windows account.

That the history documents are not shown is just a result of that.

Not sure where to start now with issue detection as we don't know the reasons of needing /nohardware and starting as admin ... any thoughts about setting up Windows itself in the next time?

Refer this Article from Autodesk itself, On How to do a Clean Uninstall : Perform a Clean Uninstall

And kindly let us know if it helps

Hi,

Thank you for your answers. I refreshed my computer using Windows refresh tool (while keeping personal files), re-updated my drivers and reinstalled Autocad 2019 Student. The issues are the same as before, I didn't change the shortcut yet. Here's a short video of what the issue looks like :

Hi,

Hopefully you have not hold your AutoCAD settings, otherwise you would have transferred the issue you have to the new user profile 😉

In case you have the old user settings then you might try reset settings to default as described >>>here<<<

From your video and the message in your first post:
>> the Startup tab, it works but it's completely empty

That is what I see in your video:

20190224_113446.png

So I see content in the start-tab, for me it does not look empty, BUT ... it shows an empty space on the right side, which happens when

  • graphic card drivers are not working fully compatible with DirectX11
  • you have set the Windows font scaling (DPI-scaling) to a value different to 100% ... in that case set the value back to 100%

If I misunderstood something then please let me know what I missed.

Refreshing(or restoring only system files) will not guarantee a Clean uninstall. Did you try the Autodesk  article mentioned in my previous post? There could be left over files in %appdata% and at times in registry.

Unfortunately, none of this worked. I reset the settings to default as you suggested, I changed the DPI-scaling to 100% (was 125%), my graphic card is compatible with DirectX 11 (Geforce 940mx).

The startup tab only displays the right buttons when resized as you saw in the video, and then it's only an image. The buttons do not highlight when I hover them. If I switch to something else, the startup tab will then "copy" the content of the other tab. Plus, the biggest issue is that I cant see the drawings when I create them (as displayed in the video).

Thank you for your quick answer.

Yes, I forgot to mention this but I did a clean uninstall before refreshing the computer and deleted everyting autocad-related in Appdata.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Update or downgrade the nVidia driver. That you needed to disable hardware acceleration already shows that there exists conflicts with the graphic card.

Thanks a lot for your help. Downgrading the drivers did the trick. Everything seems to work perfectly now.
