Some hatch appear to be outside of boundary

I am having an issue with some hatch styles. Some hatch styles unless I zoom in very close to the object, appear to be outside of the boundary, the more I zoom out, the worst it gets. Any idea why that happens. See pic attached.

List the corner of the hatch area, how far is it from 0,0 ?

1. Turn off Hardware Acceleration and restart Autocad (if this fails try 2nd option)
2. Type HPMAXLINES Set the value to 1000000 (if this fails try 3rd option)
3. Command: VIEWRES
   Do you want fast zooms? [Yes/No] <Y>: n
   Enter circle zoom percent (1-20000) <1000>: 20000

If that didn't get it done try these :

Nothing worked. I just installed the autocad 2019 a couple of days ago so it might be the new version that has problems..

I am also using 2019, so it’s not that for sure. Let’s try this.

if the hatches are associative, make it non-associative, now select it and see if the boundary hidden lines match with your hatched element.

next, try exploding your hatch, and see if the everything is in 0 Z-value and within the boundary element

lastly, please upload a file in which you have a hatched element and also a exploded hatch element

Together all of us can figure this out. Don’t loose your hope 👍

I just noticed that if the hatch the is exploded it stops appearing to be going outside the boundary. Find attached cad document as requests. Thank you

Hi,

1. Display Regen problems, repair corrupt AutoCAD files click here

2. Recreate Hatches

3. install the latest available updates for the graphics card click here

4. Command EXPORTTOAUTOCAD Click here

You just try this CAD file, i save as to AutoCAD 2013 format. no error seen in my system.

Hi Sebastian,

  That confirms that the issue is not with the HATCH Element. But still let's give one more shot Change the HPORIGINMODE value to 5. Restart the Autocad.

I know that you answered this already, but since it is confirmed that it is only a graphical display glitch. HARDWARE ACCELERATION should be the culprit here. 

• 3DCONFIG -> HARDWARE ACCELERATION -> OFF
• SMOOTH LINE DISPLAY -> ON
• Restart Computer

Have you also installed the available updates? When you start command _ABOUT, does the exact version information show "2019.1.2" or only "2019". That should be verified first.

I also want to ask if this hatch pattern is a standard AutoCAD one or if it's a user defined hatch pattern.

When you change the hatch pattern to a different type like ANSI37 ... does it show the same effects?

In case you have activated the variable: HPLINETYPE please turn it to OFF.

In your dwg-file there are references, JPG as well as PDF, remove them and see if hatch is working better then.

At least one try: use copy & paste to copy the hatch borders (only the borders, not the hatches themselves) to a new drawing (new means based on an original AutoCAD template). And there start hatching again.

Turning off the hardware accelerator, turning on the smooth line display and restarting autoCad worked!

Issue still exists in 2024. None of the recommendations above work on three entirely different PC's with different graphics cards. Two of which are certified hardware for Acad. This is an issue with the acad default gravel hatch pattern on certain complex boundaries. The hatch works fine in a simple rectangle or circle. No other hatch pattern in my collection produce the issue and a number of free gravel hatches available to download do not produce the issue.

Hatches, as many other acad things, have quirks. A complex border with many vertices will cause it do appear a bit funky. Also, if it picks up a crossing object, it can spill. If the hatch origin is far away - it will spill.

And that particular hatch, it's always been the worst to manage. Select the hatch, update origin to within border. It might fix it.

Also, notice that the spill, from what i can see by screenshot alone, roughly corresponds to the arc, as if it found the whole circle.

THere's alternatives to THAT hatch, most CAD ones work well, but that one...i bypass it whenever i can.
