Simplex.ttf font not showing in AutoCAD2015

I am trying to use the true type version of the simplex font. I have linstalled the font, which I beleive simplex.ttf is already installed with windows, and can not seem to get it to show as a selection under styles or fonts in autoCAD. All it shows is the simplex.shx version. I have confirmed that it is installed by opening ms word to see if it is a selection option under fonts. It is and listed has TT next to it. The reason for doing this is to make a pdf file that the text is searchable. SHX fonts are not searchable in a pdf file from AutoCAD 2015, but .TTF fonts are. At least this is what I have found out. I have even went into the options and set a path for support files and folders to the c:\windows\font folder with no luck. I have restarted the application. Any advice or thoughts on how to get this to work work be great.

Simplex.ttf should already installed in windows fonts folder when you installed your autocad, why it said TT ?

Maybe it's corrupted. Delete your  ttf  and find it from another PC.

I have reloaded the font because I thought it was currupt and that was why it was not showing. I show the same details as your pick attachment and still it doesnot pullup in autocad.

Are you sure you are not seeing this in AutoCAD?

Does your drawing have this box checked?

If it does, only .shx will be shown.

In AutoCAD, the SIMPLEX SHX font is always used. The TTF font is only used for display purposes inside the MTEXT editor.

That's it. Always has been like that.

May I ask why the need for the TTF form of simplex in AutoCAD?

The reason for using a TTF font is because the text is searchable when creating a pdf from autocad 15. SHX fonts are not searchable in a pdf file created from autocad 15. At least from what I have found out. Our company needs to have date outlet numbers on the floor plans to be searchable.

Really? As shown here BOTH simplex fonts .shx or .ttf can be used for text not  TTF font is only used for display purposes inside the MTEXT editor.

Someone yesterday posted a screen shot of the styles window>font drop down that showed the simplex.ttf font as a selection. So I agree with you that the simplex.ttf is not just for display. I just can not figure out how to get it to show up in my font menu.

In older versions when use STYLE, you can select Simplex.ttf and use it as text or mtext but I opened 2013 it can't do that anymore.

I guess you can scream at Autodesk.

So is it no longer an option in 2015 under style? Font simplex.ttf that is.

AutoCAD 2016 is the fix then: it creates searchable text, whther you want it or not.

There is no way to do what you want in R2015 or lower, unless you move away from the Autodesk provided stick-font TTF compilations of SHX fonts (use ARIAL instead of SIMPLEX).
AFAIK Autodesk will never add the feature to 2015 or lower.

What if you move the Simplex.shx somewhere that autocad can't find it, RESTART, the Simplex.ttf would show up.

Maybe same name screwed it up in newer versions Smiley Happy

(responding to post #12) the OP wants searchable SHX fonts in 2015, and wants to use the SIMPLEX (whatever format) font in AutoCAD and get searchable text: show them how that's done using SIMPLEX and 2015 or lower and we can close this topic for good.

AFAIK only 2016 versions do this requested feature with Autodesk provided fonts.

This is what I saw at the beginning of this post, searchable in PDF or not I can't tell because I don't have 2015 to test it.

What if OP doesn't want to upgrade to 2016 as you suggested??

I replied to the question I saw.

Read it

Agreed: for searchable PDFs I too think the best option for the OP is 2016 if they must use Simplex, if switching to a stock Windows TTF font (like Arial or others) is not an option for them in 2015.
