setting margins for A4 page

Hi!

I am preparing drawings for a patent.

The US Patent office has special standards regarding drawings.

The page should have margins and the actual drawing should be placed within these margins.

Here is the specification for the margins:

I want the borders of the view to be equal to the mentioned margins.
How do I accomplish this?

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

You create a new layout, draw rectangles with the sizes shown in your patent documentation.

Then you can create a viewport with object snaps to these rectangles/polylines.

Is that what you are looking for?

@Alfred.NESWADBA , hi!

That is the purpose of the dashed line of the layout?
(shown  in the picture, green-colored).

How do I change its dimensions?
Since it is invisible I could use it for my margins

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

>> purpose of the dashed line of the layout?

In the device settings/paper format there exists a definition of border/none printable area.

If you define your own paperformat you can define this border.

Yes, that can work,

I understand how to press the rectangle button,

but I don't understand how to draw a rectangle with the specified size, offset and location in the layout.

Thanks for your help!

Set your viewport in layout as your margin dimensions.

Hi,

>> with the specified size

Well, these are real basics. Without knowing how to enter coordinates you can't create drawings (with any CAD) ... therefor please look to tutorials, visit classes or at least read the help: >>>this<<< is a start, with many links as additional information.

Please understand that we (I) will not start to write help chapters in the forum as the information already exists and it would need hours to write all types of coordinate input including sketches or videos. I don't get paid for this and so don't have that much time here!

Hi!

I have done it!
(see the screencast)

Is there an easier way to achieve this result?

Thanks!
