set layer to Revision cloud

Hi there,

Is there a way to set a default layer to a revision cloud?

Same idea as the dimlayer or mleaderlayer

I couldn't find one. Is there a workaround?

Kind regards,

Yes, there is.  I have drop down menus to handle my revision. If I go over rev 4 then I manually make rev 5. But you can if you do more than rev 4, just add as many revisions as possible that you might need over time.

I click my button; it creates the layer and sets it. Then I click my Triangle and start to populate my drawing with clouds and the revision callouts.

I will even add the menu programming for this to help you get started.

Hope this helps. If so, please click the Solved button.

Thanks, JRR!

MNS Menu Setup:

                 [REVISION 2]^C^C-la;m;G-ANNO-REVS-2;C;4;;;_revcloud;a;5/16;5/16;

                 [REVISION 3]^C^C-la;m;G-ANNO-REVS-3;C;4;;;_revcloud;a;5/16;5/16;

                 [REVISION 4]^C^C-la;m;G-ANNO-REVS-4;C;4;;;_revcloud;a;5/16;5/16;

You can also turn on your Toolbars and start adding them onto your Ribbon by dragging them out once you make them.

I added REVCLOUD to this command. I may add it to my dropdowns.

Tip:  Use PLINE and draw around your revised area and then close the PLINE. Now pick onto the R button.

This now will create the Revision 1 Layer and Color, change the Radius of your Clouds, then will change the PLINE you just drawn and change the PLINE to the new layer and turn it to a Cloud using 5/16”R.

It cannot get any easier than that.

Hope this helps! If it does, please pick Solved.

Thanks, JRR.

I use a tool palette that I made many years ago. It has other stuff on it too, along with the revcloud command, and on that tool palette I can set the layer the rev clouds always come in on.

Thanks for Accepting my Two Solutions. Greatly appreciated and it was fun going back to programming.

Pkolarik above also has a great way of doing the same in a different way. Great thing about AutoCAD is there are many ways of getting the job done.  I always told my CADDERs that and then added, as long as it is the way I do it!! haha.

If you need any help in setting your system up for this, just ping us all. Once you do one of these, you can add many other commands to quick pick including plotting your drawings to a PDF file, purging your drawing, Draw Back all your Hatch, etc. Many use scripts like I gave but some use LISP files to get the job done.

Enjoy!

JRR!
