Selection not picking up some line types

I've checked all the settings between 2019 where I don't have an issue and 2020 where I do have this issue and cannot find anything jumping out at me that's different between the two releases. 

First time post, go easy lol. Basically in 2019 if I am lets say trimming a line, I pick the first line, enter then try to click on the line I want to trim. If that linetype is not a solid line, lets say Divide2 then it doesn't matter where the selection box touches the line, it will recognise it, i.e as long as I go over the path of the line either solid part of the graphic or the empty part of the graphic.

In 2020 however it will only identify the line if I hit the solid part of the graphic. So for example I have a rectangle drawn, and the linetype of Divide 2 is such that there is not any solid part of the line within the rectangle so when I try to trim within the rectangle it will not identify the line. Even if I use the lassoo command across the path of the line it wont pick it up. 

Any help appreciated.

Set the LTGAPSELECTION System Variable to 1.

Hi Kent, it was already at 1. Set it to 0 and back again but made no difference.

can you please verify that using command _GRAPHICSCONFIG that your hardware acceleration is activated (and showing DirectX11)

Alfred yes it is activated. Where do I Identify DirectX11?

I cant do that I'm afraid but essentially any linetype that isnt solid will not be picked up unless I hit a solid part of the line.

It should work if:

• latest AutoCAD updates are installed, for AutoCAD 2020 this is "2020.1.3"
• LTGAPSELECTION is set to 1
• hardware acceleration is activated
• 2D Display Settings is set to "Advanced Mode" (and so HQGEOM is ON)

yes you can: copy/paste to an empty file just a few lines including the problem one, if you cannot replicate the problem you found a fix, if the problem is still there you can share that otherwise useless DWG file here for us to experiment with.

It may be the Advanced Mode that's the Issue, I had to switch it to basic to overcome a display issue whereby only the upper quarter of the screen was displaying the background xref. I'll switch back on and try and do it in that mode.

Yes it is Direct X11. It is in basic mode as when in Advanced it only a quarter of my screen was displaying the xref background.

2D Display is the issue. I have it set to Basic Mode not advanced to solve another issue.

Well, Intel HD are not build for CAD, a lot of issues can be read here like yours with display issues in some circumstances.

If "Advanced Mode" is not possible, then your system doesn't have enough compatibility to use the selection in the gap area of a linetype.

Every newer version of AutoCAD is more optimized for DirectX. This means the compatibility of the graphic card drivers to the DirectX specifications are "tested" more hard and direct.

The best you can do is to play with different driver releases for your Intel HD (or use a graphic card which works well with CAD software).
