Selected items are showing as dashed instead of highlighted

When selecting a line or object, it used to show as highlighted. Now when I select something it showing as dashed. I have tried the selectioneffect and preselectioneffect commands and have had no change. Is there a command prompt to change these back to only being highlighted?

Hi, tried to change the hardware accelleration and the selection option but still have the dashed line. Here's the screenshot

Hi my SELECTIONEFFECT is set to 1 and it is not showing highlighted so I don't know what to do. It looks the same as it does when I change it to 0.

has you read the help about SelectionEffect [F1] and have you also checked

the prerequisites mentioned there, so your HA is set to ON?

Is ther nothing, no dashed line, no glowing?

also in a new acad/acadiso.dwt based drawing and a simple LINE object?

AutoCAD has determined your video card is not capable. Think otherwise? Then share with us screenshots of your AutoCAD'S ABOUT and GRAPHICSCONFIG command pop-ups here, let's see what you got going on.

it's been working fine for 2 years but had a power cut today and now can't get rid of dotted line when picked and juddery cursor

SELECTIONEFFECTS=1 Works for me for the dashed line issue. As to your hardware acceleration issue, maybe the power cut damaged your graphics card? Computer hardware (and in many cases, software) is not my strong suit... I hand over those questions to my much more tech savvy wife 🙂

i've tried everything i know to stop this issue since restarting but nothing seems to work. does anyone know if there is a way to restore settings to what they were before power outage
