Has anyone downloaded the SDUCT application and been able to use it in AutoCAD? If so, what steps did you have to take in order to get the application to work? I downloaded the application, but I am having trouble getting it to function. on the SDUCT help page, it mentions having to also download ObjectDCL, did you have to do this in order to use SDUCT? I am not a very computer savy individual, when it comes to downloading and installing new software. I need help.

It says on their website you must have it (and get it)
If you got it from the app store note this limitation

Why not ask the add-in creator for help before you trial and/or buy-it for help, it might be a good indication if you wish to continue with them or not

So it does not work with Auto 2024? Seems crazy.
Don't know, you'll need to ask the creator of that add-on you wish to use: choose your method to do that here

Hi ,
>"Seems crazy."
May I ask why?
OpenDCL needs is documented, also the compatible versions.

Are you asking why I said, "It seems crazy"? If so, I think it's crazy that the salesperson whom I spoke with when purchasing AutoCAD 2024 suggested that I download SDUCT when I asked him if there was a way for me to download HVAC duct drawings. Now it seems any version past 2020 doesn't work with SDUCT. Now it is completely possible that I just do not know what I am talking about, since I am basically a helpless infant when it comes to computer information. I just want someone to show me step by step how to get this on my computer and show me exactly what to do to use it.
Thanks.
Perhaps SDUCT work on newer versions, I didn't test it (i am away from Acad for hours) and just the description is not up to date.
>"the salesperson whom I spoke with "
Okay, with this context information I understand.
The best source for information about the non-autodesk product is the creator, ductisoft.
And think about: Also if SDUCT works in 2024, it doesn't means that it will also work in 2025..
That's the usual problems with addon's
You installed opendcl now?
I will take a look later, if needed.

note: With subscription, it is allowd to use the current and the last 5 versions.
You have more than one year. Until Acad2026 is published, or whatever the name will be, you can run Acad2020 too.

Third-party plugins aren't always as up to date as their host applications. This one seems to have not seen much action for the last couple years. That said a lot of the time older plugins work fine, but its a plugin by plugin basis.
When it comes to being shown step by step, that may be a tall order unless some one here has the time to spare to get the plugin an learn it just to teach you. Not saying some one wont, but you may have to do some digging and self learning if no one else here has any experience with it.
If you cant get SDUCT to work, have you looked into AutoCAD MEP? There are likely more resources that can help online and youtube video etc for AutoCAD MEP.

If you are needing step by step help you can also look into hiring some one in the services market place

Which salesperson is that? I'd suggest you contact them right now, no one here is sales nor Autodesk, we are all end users just like you with day jobs.

Your subscription subscription allows you to install these (and other variants) for free to use all the time, perhaps as suggested by others this is what you need

Unless you actually need this level of fabrication detail, then this is not free but may be what you need?
Best wishes.

Hi Guys,..
I hope that all of you going well,
SDUCT will continue running soon for next release of AutoCAD,
for that case,..we worked on ObjectDCL who is the required for this apps.
we thought that the arrival of REVIT would have invaded the HVAC market and that SDUCT would have been put aside, but to our great surprise, many turned to SDUCT after the release of REVIT.
Personally, I believe that REVIT is a great tool, but that for many designers and their clients,...2D remains even more efficient and more profitable.
That's why I think SDUCT is so popular.
For information.....The version of our SDUCT website vs AutoDESK apps are diffrent,..
why ? cause installation process need to be modified to be approved by AutoDesk apps Store.
so we decided to maintain only our installation process for better support and maintain next releases.
That mean the last release of SDUCT will always be in our website.
you can contact us anytime about our product.
Thank you for your understanding and all your patience.
Andrea.
