Scaling help

I have a floor plan project where the noted scaling is 3/32"=1'-0". I have set my units to architectural and the annotative scale to 3/32"=1'-0" as well. When drawing the floor plan to the required measurements, the scaling is still way too big to even finish drawing or maneuver around the drawing. Do I have to convert every required dimension to 3/32"? Is there a way for AutoCAD to automatically do that for me when inputting the dimensions? Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Th point of annotative dimensions is that you should be able to assign a selected scale or scale so that it automatically adjust so to the scale you desire.

is it possible to share a sample drawing for me to examine? I discovered this quick video that might help as well.

@john.vellek

Yes, the video does help. But in my case, when drawing in the model space the dimensions are still way too big. Maybe it's just something wrong with my computer program?

Hi @Anonymous,

What scale are you displaying your in your modelspace?  I am happy to look at your file and can make some recommendations for you.

@john.vellek Thank you for your response.

In my model space, I set the scale to 3/32"=1'-0". I would upload the file, but i can't really draw any of my floor plan because the dimensions are too large.

syria1,

Look at TEXTSIZE, DIMSCALE and DIMTXT.

Example:
We work with 1/8"=1'-0" printed media.
Our text height is 5 inches.
Our dimension scale is 48.

The relationship of the text size to the dimension scale is the dimension text value.
For us, this is as shown:
TEXTSIZE / DIMSCALE = DIMTXT
5.0 / 48.0 = 0.104167

I suspect DIMTXT is not set properly.

Try this,

First go into the text style dialog, STYLE command or through the ribbon, set the Paper Text Height to 0.

Now open your dimstyle dialog, DDIM command or through the ribbon, pick the style you are using, modify, then pick on the Text tab, set to text height to 3/32".

Now try dimensioning again.
