Scale command terminated

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all,

The scale command is not working. As soon as I click the basepoint, in general I type the number for scale factor directly. But now, when I click the basepoint (any place), the scale command is terminated. It does not recognize the number that I put or even if I choose Copy or Reference, is not recognized as well; The size estimation done with the cursor movement, vanished, it doesn't appears after I click the basepoint. Please, somebody could help me?

Did you try restarting Autocad?

Go to Autodesk desktop App and install if any updates are available.

Expand you command line to more that one or a few lines (make if 10-12-15 lines tall): now try it again and see what the error message or action that AutoCAD is reporting.

It's not the case. Does not work, no matter where I click the basepoint and turn off the OSNAP has no effect

Hi,

does the SCALE command also not work in another (new) drawing with just one line?

What about starting the command by typing into command-line:

_.SCALE

(including underline and point)

Your screenshot doesn't tell me much, it does not show SCALE in full action and the results afterwards, you decided to stop and comment instead. Try again? Start then finish SCALE command then start LINE command, do all of this in a video and post it here. Use the free SCREENCAST tool https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/simplecontent/content/download-autodesk-screencast...

Also... What changed on your PC? Did you get a new wireless keyboard? wireless Mouse? Install or remove software? add or remove an add-on? Are you typing SCALE then <enter> or are you clicking on a button?
Post a screenshot of your ABOUT command as well.

My first thought was that maybe your mouse is registering twice in one click, but if I pick the same place again in that situation, I get a "Value must be positive and nonzero" message, not an end of the command.  But my other question [I don't have any solutions at hand regardless of the answer, but maybe it will trigger an idea for someone] would be:  Is the size of the selected objects changed?

OP the image you showed does show a prompt for Basepoint right after prompting for more object selection. This is followed by the prompt for scale, then the blank space.

Assuming a right-click for <enter> and a left-click for selection, I get the impression you may have double-right-clicked past the basepoint prompt and did a left-click on the scale prompt (thinking it was the basepoint prompt). I think this would have cancelled the command but I am not on AutoCAD at the moment to verify.

Could you expand the command line as Dean suggested, take each step one at a time and record what you are doing at each step and what the command line is telling you after each step?

Otherwise for some reason the program is thinking it is receiving 2 or 3 <enters> in a row.

The only other thing I can think to ask is, did you switch from say vanilla AutoCAD to Mechanical or something like that? I know years ago when I jumped on Mechanical, I noticed the syntax was different for the fillet and chamfer commands.

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂

Hi, all the command line is there, after I open the file, the first command was that what you see. Sorry for the late response I've been out. I will try to do that, but it will take a while, since I have no permission to install anything in this computer. I have to wait the verification team to check, give the permission and finally install

Thanks very much
