Saving .dwg with custom lines included.

Hi,

It is possible to save a drawing where i've used some custom lines that i made? I want those lines to be visible to others from the company when they access the drawings. I don't mind if those lines a locked and nobody can modify them, i only need to be visible to everybody 🙂

Linetypes are always saved in the drawing file. If they are complex linetypes that use shapes, then you'll have to send the SHX files along for the ride (see the post above about using eTransmit.)

Also, for complex linetypes using text, you may be required to send the font file, if the font used is non-standard.

Standard (dash-gap) linetypes, including custom ones will go with the DWG file, just fine.

There is never a need to send the .LIN file.

Thanks for the answer. 

This is what i was afraid of, having to transmit some extra files along with the drawing. 

The main problem is that the company is on multiple countrys and the files are stored on a online platform (SharePoint) and everything is categorized by filetype. So if i would upload this drawing on the platform, i will be allowed to choose only DWG files.

Also, i forgot to mention, the custom lines are pretty complex 🙂

"Complex" linetype refers to a linetype definition that contains either a reference to a text style or a shape file.

It's not a term (in this case) that is open for interpretation.

Ok, you are right, sorry,

The lines are a combination of text and shapes. 

Some lines have only text, some only shapes, and some are combined.

Your recipients need access to all these extra shape/text files, there is no way around it.
