Saving a template file in AutoCAD

In Autodesk AutoCAD 2026 I go to save as a template file (in save as - drawing template) the save dialog doesn't appear. Instead a list to select the file "format: AutoCAD Drawing Template (*.dwt) Enter file format. I select DXF and another message appears "enter decimal places of accuracy.

I'm unsure what this means?

The save dialog box still doesn't appear. I went file - save as - drawings.
I'm still unsure what to do and how to properly save my files.

@u1168682

FILEDIA when set to 1 should now bring up the Save Drawing As window.

When you enter command OPEN does that bring up the Select File window?

A temporary fix is to just enter the format you want the drawing to be saved as like 2018

Then at the next command prompt press the ~ character (which is the symbol typically situated in the upper left corner below the Esc key on the keyboard) and then hit Enter. That should now bring up the Save Drawing As window.
