Romans true type font

Hi

We used to make text bold and use superscripts and subscripts with romans font.  Now it is greyed out and apparently it has something to do with true type font?  How do we overcome this, as our preferred font, and the one which has been standard to our company for 20 years, is romans?

Hi, whi does this happen?? I am facing similar problem witth isometrics from Autocad plant 3D. Our client uses romas.shx, but when I try to find a word in the plotted pdf, it does not match properly. Is that possible to make Autocad see Romans like it see Arial fonts: with A "TT" indicator on the text style -> Font name??

What?

The switch from ttf to shx? Read this thread again.. there is (or is not) a standard setting, which forces Acad to use the .shx font instead .ttf

TTFs data cannot be processed by many machines,
In addition, TTFs can lead to severe performance losses,
I think that's why it was introduced that way - and has remained that way to this day.

This default setting is not the same in all toolsets, but it is the same for AutoCAD and LT

Before you change standards, what does your EPDFSHX setting look like? AutoCAD should actually create comments with the same text values, which can then be searched and found in PDF.

(in some PDFviewers you can't see a selection over all, but you can jump from one hit to the next one)
This has been improved from version 2024.

As I wrote above: Yes. And it is also explained how.

But as I also wrote above, I wouldn't prefer to do this

(just for people who have not to ask such things / Acad can't handle shx+ttf side by side well, so it is a bad idea)

Despite all warnings. Read this thread again, make two copies of this file, one remains original and in the other you delete the line in question,
then save the file to the original location.
Restart ACAD and test.

OKAY, I understand...See image attached. The problem that remais when I use romans.shx end EPFSHX equals 2, for example, is the search result. I didn't seems precise..

You are talking about the blue mask? and the inaccuracy is that the blue mask is slightly larger than the search word?

So, save a backup of the original .ini and edit like i said.

Note: After this, you can choice between both (.shx and .ttf)

to whom you forward the files, the same applies to you so far, because the standard in ACAD/LT is that the program should use .shx.
One difference between .shx and .ttf is: .shx takes line width into account, .ttf doesn't!
