Repeated XREF Title Block Updating

Good day.

I have a drawing that has 84 tabs and 7 different Sites. We always called the drawings with the project name and not with the site number. They asked if we could add the Site Number within the title block. Of course the answer is YES!! I created the 7 different drawing boarders and added the site numbers in there. Sheet Set takes care of the 2nd line of the title block. Site 1, easy, rename the drawing, reassign it in XREF command lines. The other 6 sites I started by starting a new drawing, created my layer for the boarder, XREF's Site 2 into the drawing, then I Edit Copied the border. Went to my main drawing, clicked the tab that Site 2 started and deleted the Site 1 boarder then used Paste Original to insert the Site 2 boarder. I did that 5 times and said wait, there is a better way. I rem before if you do something big in AutoCAD 1 time, ok, 2 times and you don't write a command for it, shame on you. I broke that rule by gong 5 times.

I created a Custom ribbon Button. I still put the drawing boarder in a new drawing and hit copy. But then I just pick the tab, it UP and bang, it updates so fast I had to zoom in and see if it worked. Next site I go to the other drawing, XREF that one in, hit Copy, go back to the main drawing, hit the tab and pick UP. Next Tab UP. Works amazing!!

Enjoy!

Thanks, JRR!

I have done the same with an external script. The border is an xref but the sheet name and number is a block reading Sheet Set Manager. I had to make an adjustment to the block on all the sheets. Write a script to erase the block and paste in the updated block.

Lauri,

There was no clarification requested or needed.

I put the post out there to let others maybe have a better way of updating their XREFs.

Vincent did the same, he let others know that you can also write a script to accomplish what I did with a Custom Ribbin Button.

Thanks, JRR!
