Rendering

Hello,

I have a problem with rendering in Autocad 2016. When I press the render button it says Insufficient memory, try closing applications on your computer or restarting it.

I have deleted 20 GB of the memory and still have 48 GB free memory, it worked few times, but once I have added some more materials or lights to the 3D the problem happened again.

Can you please help me.

Thank you very much

Hello Alfred.
I see that you helped here with rendering in AutoCAD 2016. I would like to ask you if you could help me as well.
I have problem with rendering, a window which says insufficient memory, try closing applications or restarting your computer.
I have tried that, but didn't help, I have deleted 20GB of my memory, still have 46GB free memory on my computer and didn't help.
Than I changed lighting settings and it worked, but once I added some materials and more lights, it started again.
Can you please help. Thank you very much

Hi,

>> a window which says insufficient memory

This does not mean that you do have to few space on your harddisk, this means that the main memory is full, so either there are too many programs running parallel to AutoCAD or this drawing needs more memory in your computer to render the scene.

How many memory does your computer have, which version of AutoCAD and which version of operating system do you run?

Hi Karinka and welcome to the Community Forums!

The error message is not necessarily requesting more disk space but more RAM. Can you describe your computer to me?

When you try to render you might also verify that NO other applications are running to see if this helps. It sounds like you might be running a few other applications at the same time which does not allow enough RAM resources to perform the render.

Hi,

>> Installed RAM 4.00GB (2.16 GB usable)
>> System type 32-bit operating system

2.16 GB main memory can be too small to get renderings from mid or large modells/drawings.

The options are to change to a 64bit operating system (as step 1 so you can use a bit more than 2GB) and built in more than 4GB memory.

>> Do you know how I could delete a RAM space

If you don't have any other services and applications running ... no, you can't "delete RAM space"

Hi,

you've gotten the answer >>>there<<<, 2.1 GB usable memory is not enough for rendering of mid/large projects.

Hi @Anonymous,

I would see what RAM upgrades are available for your computer as it does not appear that you really have enough for the work you are trying to perform.

Hi,

Just to mention: it does not help to build in more memory (than your installed 4GB) without changing to 64bit operating system.
Your current 32bit os can't support more than 4GB.

Hi,

welcome @forums.autodesk.com!

Whenever a rendering is black the most common reason is there is not enough light (assuming you have valid geometry that can be rendered and not just lines).

To verify the light:

make sure you are in perspective mode (that's the only situation to check the distance between your camera and the geometry)

make sure your units are corresponding to the lights you used (e.g. if a light is 1000 meter away you won't get the geometry illuminated, 1000 meant as Millimeter will work)

You might also upload the drawing so we can take a look into it as there may be other 100 reasons why a scence gets rendered black (e.g. a big wall is placed between the camera and the objects you want to be rendered).
