Remove drawing from paper space but keep in model space

Hi all,

Is there a way to remove a line or drawing in paper space, but keep that same line/drawing in model space?

If the line is truly in Model Space and only present in Paperspace via a viewport, then you can control the display of it in a few different ways:

Viewport layer states

3d Clipping planes in the viewport

if the viewport is not needed delete the viewport

Wipeouts

Viewport zoom level

.... There are a lot of different options.

Do any of those address what you are looking for?

Thanks for the response.

I need the viewport still because there are other drawings I want there, but I just need a few lines shown in the model space to not be seen in the viewport. I don't want to hide the layer because the layer of these few lines are also layers of other lines in the viewport that I will need unhidden.

Sounds like you probably need to go with Layer Control. If there is a justification for them not showing on a print, then it is likely you would want to move those entities to their own layer for better control. Then you can still show the lines in Model space, but have them not display in paperspace.

Turning off the specific layer in the vport is the answer if I understand what you are after.

1) Double click within the vport in layout, or enter this command _.MSPACE

2) Then enter command _.layer

3) Select the layer and cleck the icon in "VP Freeze" column to freeze the layer. By doing this the layer won't be turned off in model space.

Try this:

1. Put the lines you want to 'hide' on a dedicated layer. No other entities should be allowed to reside on this layer.
2. Go to layout tab and activate a viewport (your cursor will be displayed inside the VP).
3. In the Layers Properties Manager with VP activated, click the icon of the dedicated layer (see image below).
4. All entities on the dedicated layers will no longer be displayed in the VP.

While on a Layout Tab with the VP activated, click the icon under VP Freeze.
