Region fails to recognize closed areas

Hi,

I encounter the following problem:

I have seven lines as you see in the figure below:

111.jpg

Running the command "Region" I expect to have 3 Regions, as this have been always the case until now. On smaller rectangular on the top, the bigger one below, and the biggest one enclosing the both.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I get in this case just only one region.

Below you can find the dwg-file.

Could anybody give me a hint.

I would be very grateful.

Hi,

You can select all the objects and enter command region which will result in 3 regions as you mentioned. The problem with the drawing is end points are not merged. Try to edit using grip edit all the lines and merge to the end point and give it a try which would work fine.

But if you use BOUNDARY (Bo) command you will be able to create two boundaries which will not include the largest one consisting both.

See the screencast.

Dear @Vinayv4v,

thank you for your reply. This is part of a very big problem. Imagine I have thousands of such closed areas, clicking inside each closed area would be a little bit too much effort 😉

I always work with the funstion region. But in this special case, which I cannot understand, it doesn't work, and I would like to know why.

Hi,

Here is the reason why you are getting one region other than 3.

...by the way I have uploaded another dwg-file. Region recognizes 3 regions in this file.

Thank you again.

Dear @Vinayv4v

now I've watched your screencast. Did you mean by that, that there is a tiny little gap in my drawing, which you close by seperating ends of the lines and connecting them by the snap function?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes as in the picture posted by Mr. Imad one line is not joined correctly. That was the problem why you were not able to create 3 regions.
