Reduce unwanted snap points

I'm sure everyone has had the issue of autocad snapping to a point that they didn't want, and using the on/off toggle or the temporary snap option helps to mitigate the issue.  But the times that I find most frustrating is when AutoCAD snaps to a point that isn't even visible on my screen.  This does crop up most commonly from large objects like PDFs, Blocks or Mtext but I can't think of a single instance when someone would want to snap to a point that they aren't currently looking at.

Is there a way to constrain the snap function so that it only looks for objects in the current view rather than a set distance away from your cursor? 
Is there a better place to send this suggestion to Autodesk to have this added in to future editions if it doesn't currently exist?

- Freeze instead of using OFF for layers.
- Look up PDFOSNAP in HELP
- Zoom in more often.

Temporary snap overrides are a good solution.

An alternative is when you are trying to snap, you can cycle through the available running object snaps by hitting the tab key until the desired one comes up.

Yep thanks, the issue though is that when its snapping to something off screen then you don't even know that it's not going to go where you want it to before clicking.

I do zoom in all the time, the issue is when that doesn't stop the snap.

Honestly, this is more of an annoyance that I feel should be fixable with a little better programming rather than a problem that deserves a bunch of workarounds.

Why is that an issue if you are trying to be accurate with your snaps? If you don't see the icon, don't click.

One reason why there are many ways to do the same thing is that no single solution is going to work for all situations. We need to know several options so that we can adjust for different situations.

This has >come up before<.  See my Messages 16 & 22 for some [in part redundant] reasons why it is  sometimes desirable to be able to Osnap to a location that's not currently in view.

Alright, those were good examples that I haven't come across in my own experience.  But what I see more in that board is that people have been complaining about this for a while and it really shouldn't be that hard to implement a toggle in the OSNAP settings so that if you are dealing with large circles then you can turn that mode on or off for whichever situation it would make more sense.

I'm so tired of hearing that when something doesn't work the way someone expects it to. Have you thought about the possibility that the implementation of that feature could break other things? Maybe there is no option to turn off snaps that are off screen without turning off all snaps. Maybe it's one way or the other and snapping to things off screen was deemed more useful than not.

try using the APERTURE command to reduce the 'magnetic' strength of OSNAP. Mine was set at 10, but when I changed it to 5, OSNAP stopped being so persistent.
