reduce number of vertices

I have created a DWG file with thousands of vertices, resulting in laser cutters sometimes struggling or resorting to cutting a series of tiny straight cuts. The file is a complicated profile. Is there a way to reduce the number of vertices without having to do it manually?

The WEED.lsp routine at @pendean's link is for "heavy" Polylines.  If you need something for Lightweight ones, go to Message 7 on that same thread for a link to PLDIET.lsp.

Hi,

Yes, I read this page, unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to do this.
Currently deep in LISP tutorials.
Searches for weeding were fun and even when I found something pertinent, it was not relevant to my version of Autocad, 2017

Last I heard mac can't use .lsp , unless newer versions of mac do, someone can correct me.

Here's the correct current link to PLDIET.  But yes, it does require AutoCAD that can use AutoLisp routines.
