rectangular mesh to 3d box

I am trying to create a 3d box with the bottom face being a rectangular mesh.  The goal is to find the volume of a containment pit with the bottom having different elevations throughout the rectangular bottom.  I have created the bottom as a rectangular mesh but I am unable to use it to construct a 3d box and then use the box to determine the volume.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Create a box with a flat bottom then draw splines on the four sides.   Use surfnetwork to create a surface.  Explode the box and delete the bottom surface. Select all and give the surfsculpt command to create a solid which can be used with massprop to tell you the volume.

Note, you can define additional splines for cross sections before making the surface. This will give you more control in modifying the shape of the rurface away from the edges.
