Rectangle question

Hi I want to create a rectangle where I know one length but want to adjust the other length manually for instance...

I know one side of the rectangle should be 1/16"

But the other side I want to stretch a snap to a wall or other line maybe, if I don't know exact distance.

I feel like I should be able to do this but I am not seeing how to do this.

Point Coordinate Filters are probably the way to go.

If you want to draw a Rectangle that's 1/16" wide  [from left to right], with the height  to be determined by some kind of locational selection, start RECTANG and give it a corner, then:

.X

with the preceding period/decimal, and when it says "of" give it a point 1/16" to the right [or left with a negative]:

@1/16,0

and when it says "(need Y):" select whatever location is to determine the vertical position of the other end [whether above or below].

If you want it 1/16" high, with the width  to be determined, use the .Y point filter and give it the 1/16 as the Y coordinate of the relative point instead:

.Y

@0,1/16

Start the RECTANGLE command, pick the start point, hit D for dimensions, type in 1/16, next type @ and enter, then pick the wall where you want it to end.  This will be for the X to be 1/16, for Y to be 1/16 you mix the above up just a little.  Start RECTANGLE, pick start point, hit D for dimensions, type @ enter, pick where the length for X would be, then 1/16 for the Y dimension....

Personally I would just make a rectangle 1/16" x 1/16" and then grip stretch into place.  I think that is actually quicker.
