Recover a .dwg file in a zipped folder

Hello everyone!
I was working on a .dwg file that I opened from a zipped folder. Thinking I had extract the file, I saved it and then closed it. Now I lost all the changes I made and I wonder if there is a way I can not re-do all the work!

wow, never tried this and never had this issue that if you save a dwg it is not saved.

First important thing is, when opening a dwg from inside a ZIP I get these infos shown:

So the info about locked/readonly gets displayed twice!

When you then close the dwg after you modified something you should see this:

Did all this not show up on your system?

I guess best you can do is to search through your complete hard-disk (include hidden folders) for files of type

• DWG
• BAK
• SV$

which were modified in the last few minutes and see if the search comes up with valid files.

Thank you very much Alfred. Actually neither of the messages was shown. Strange! Are there any efficient ways to search for the recent dwg bak and svg files?

Did you open the ZIP file in a cloud file server?
WindowsOS or MacOS or something else?

Sadly, your edits/changes in that DWG file are gone forever if you cannot find an SV$ or BAK file to rename in your OS's login temp folder.

Sorry first ... "SVG" was a typo, should be "SV$" (have corrected this already in my previous message).

There are a lot of tools in www for searching the harddisk, at least you can use Windows Explorer (>>>click<<<).

Sadly, I couldn't locate the files even in the Temp folders. I redid the work. Did you try some of the methods suggested in this thread?

Yes, I tried everything, but unsuccessfully.. at least I learned not to keep files in a zipped folder anymore
