Recomendations for a New Monitor

I am working with AutoCAD 2016. I currently have a 24 inch Dell2407WFP 1920 x 1200 pixels. 59.95 Hz. I want to have multiple applications open eg a spreedsheet and my AutoCAD drawing and so am looking to purchase another monitor around the 27-29 inch size that I will use for my drawing and which will allow me a little more screen space. Current graphics card is Quadro 400. Does anyone have any recomendations as to monitors that could work for me or if not specific models, minumum specifications such as resolution......

any of the uhd monoitors such as samsung U28E590D on the display port will work good IMHO.

We've used the "Dell UltraSharp U3014 30-Inch" for years with great results.  It's 2560x1600 so it's not designed for watching movies (perfect).

Just get a 75" Samsung touch screen monitor. Easy to do graphic arts with, and you can also use it for TV, music, apps, and house controls such as lighting / garage / fridge / surveillance / pool / coffee / etc...

I can first hand recommend any 32" 1080p 120Hz, smart TV will be well worth looking into. They're not expensive, range from  $200-$300.

Keeping in mind that AutoCAD is not designed for 2k or higher displays (look it up, they say so), 1920x1200 is decent on a 27" (my settings), so higher if you go 29" if you actually want more screen real-estate and not just bigger icons/text.

IMHO 1080p is fine for computer (not TV) screens up to 24", beyond that 1080p starts to look like a monitor for those with bad eyesight needing large icons and text instead of investing in quality prescription visionwear 🙂

I agree with Pendean on the monitor size issue. If I had known three years ago, I wouldn't have gone for a cheap 27" 1080p monitor as a side monitor for my laptop, and have bought a 24" one instead.

If it's any help, I'm quite satisfied with my 23" HP ZR2330w at work.

My opinion is to have identically sized monitors/resolution. Also, does your Quadro card have all the bells and whistles to create multiple desktops? Using that feature can unclutter a busy screen.

Never did say my recommendation was good for AutoCAD. But It's fun with Adobe Illustrator, I can draw life size characters right in front of me. Activision Blizzard Inc has a 75" Samsung Touch Screen too for graphic arts.

I agree that you need to avoid anything over 24" if you are only using 1920 x 1080. I bought a 27" 1920 x 1080 and although the big screen was nice, the resolution is way too low and everything looks jagged. Circles and arcs in ACAD look horrible. So I returned it and went for a 27" at 2560 x 1440 and it's perfect. Everything is razor sharp, but you do have to either accept smaller icons or take the time to play with some windows settings under "Windows color and appearance". I tweaked some of those settings and it worked out perfect.

I have a Dell 24" currently that I will use for all my other programs like excel and and outlook. Any ideas on a good one that will not break the bank?

As suggested above. If you plan on doing a dual monitor set up with your original monitor that you mentioned, your best bet is to get the same size and resolution as your current monitor. That should narrow choices down some for you. Even the same monitor if you can still get it and you like it. If you want that screen ratio and not a wide screen there are probably limited choices anyway too. 

If I had to make a suggestion as per a specific monitor, I'd probably just say to stay away from brands/manufacturers that you never heard of. Stick to the standards, dell, sony, asus, acer, etc...things you recognize the the company name.

May be you can help me with a monitor issue.  I was running AutoCAD 2018 on Windows 7 pro 64 bit with a 22" viewsonic monitor 1600 x 1200 resolution was my choice & everything looked & ran great but now I upgraded to Windows 10 pro 64 bit & a new Samsung 24" monitor but now when I open a AutoCAD dwg, the drawing is centered within AutoCAD & will not open to utilize the entire drawing area within AutoCAD, I have tried changing all resolutions, settings etc., & nothing solves this issue, if I hook up my old 22" monitor to the windows 10 computer it works perfectly fine, it's only when I hook up the 24" monitor, all the programs open fine even AutoCAD opens full screen but as soon as I open the drawing & zoom all the drawing seems to squish up & go to the center of the screen, kind of reminds me of how cable tv will do that when certain shows come on & they go to a square box in the center of the tv & leave black bars on both sides of the screen, that's what happens to my drawings when I open them but only on the 24" monitor. Any ideas?
