Random letters and numbers in ribbon error??

I just mapped some commands like pline and cancel to my mouse but every time I use the commands, these random numbers and letters appear. See attached picture for clarification. I have had this issue before but I can't remember how I used to trigger it. So I have to hit the newly added command twice on my mouse in order to activate it.

My process to add commands to my mouse was through CUI->Keyboard Shortcuts-> Shortcut Keys-> and here I selected a command and made a custom Access Key. I then mapped that keystroke to my mouse(Logitech MX Master).

Does anyone know if this is a system variable I can turn off or why I get these random values up by the ribbon?

maybe your Alt key is stuck because those are the keytips:

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-9404C7E3-7A99-428E-A185-9DBD3CCEE4CF

to not see those enable menubar and then you'll just see the underscores over the letters that activate the menus on the menubar:

Menubar 1

To emphasize and have a visual.

  • To display Keystokes with Menubar Off.

On the command line make Menubar = 0  , then press ALT (to turn On/Off).

Sadly it's a Windows thing, for those of us that haven't used the old menus in many years and don't want them displayed there really isn't a fix.

This does not appear to be an AutoCAD issue.

It seems like that is an issue with that device (or its drivers etc.) When the alt key is engaged, it seems like it toggles it as opposed to simply 'pressing' and releasing the key. (some examples 1, 2)

You can verify that this is the behavior by starting the onscreen keyboard. When activated and the alt button is pressed it will show this on the onscreen keyboard. If its still depressed after you click your button it will still be highlighted after you use your mapped keystroke.

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a fix readily out there if that is indeed the issue. Lots of people reinstalled things etc and the solution seemed different per user and OS.

Thank you and to all the responders, I have been using CAD for years and had no idea that ALT is what triggered those numbers and letters. I had mapped the mouse buttons to access keys CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+1 AND CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+2. I switched the access key to CTRL+SHIFT+1 and now I have no problems. Again, thank you all so much.
