"Warning: An error occured during save" when copying to clipboard

I get this error every time I use the Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Shift+C or Ctrl+X combo.

The full error is:

"Warning: An error occured during save.

We recommend that you run RECOVER on the drawing."[sic]

Running recover on the file does not fix the issue, nor does AUDIT. I have the Autodesk Desktop App running and my software has "no updates available". This message seems benign as I'm able to paste whatever I copied after closing out of the warning message. It just adds an annoying step to an action I perform dozens if not hundreds of times per day.

This issue did not exist before I updated from stock to what ever was available as of yesterday, however, the issue then was AutoCAD crashing frequently. The issue mentioned above is preferred to constant crashes so I will deal with it in the meantime.

What is your OS?
When did this problem start for you?

It appears you are triggering more than just a COPYCLIP, COPYCUT or COPYBASE with your keyboard functions: if you type these commands are you getting the same error? probably not, right?

OS: Win 10
Started when I updated to latest patch/pack Wednesday

The issue does actually happen when typing the full commands. I even checked ALIASEDIT to make sure there was nothing weird going on. I'm not running any lisps as I haven't gotten around to adding any yet.

I should add that I only updated on Wednesday because I did a fresh install on monday and used it stock for two days. I don't know exactly when the latest patches were made available.

And what about the other questions? Hint: typed commands.

Win10 Updates are killing everyone at the moment: roll it back if you can and wait as long as you can, here is how http://www.howtogeek.com/235474/how-to-roll-back-builds-and-uninstall-updates-on-windows-10/

Sorry I crammed two posts between your responses - I did try the typed commands and got the same error message.

Is there still no solution to this issue that doesn't involve rolling back the autocad version?

Hi @Anonymous,

I believe you misunderstood the suggestion. It is not to roll back the AutoCAD version.

Which version are you currently using? Have you applied Service Pack, hotfixes and updates?

This actually sounds like a Windows issue dealing with permissions.

Try running the SFC command in Windows (link for help) to see if that detects any issues.

I assume that this is happening in all your files. Try a new one, purge and audit and then try the action again to see if it still throws the error.

Hi @Anonymous,

Try using UPDATETHUMBSNOW

I am hoping this might improve this behavior for you.

I am having the same issues as described above. I have also implemented the suggestions and have not found a solution.

P3D 2022 is not a new program: is this a sudden new issue for you on your old Win10 PC/Laptop?
Or has there been some significant change to your PC that your IT person needs to get involved in to identify?

Restart your PC yet?
Empty your Win10 Login's TEMP folder yet? https://www.avg.com/en/signal/top-three-ways-to-clean-temporary-files-from-your-computer

I'm confident today is not the first time you've used copy/paste.
