"Cannot sweep or extrude an object of this type. " - Extrusion Help

I've already scoured the internet for a solution for this problem, but no luck.

The problem is that I get "Cannot sweep or extrude an object of this type. "  when selecting the object to extrude. The shape seems closed (I can hatch it). I tried to use the region function, but I get "1 closed, degenerate or unsupported object rejected." I am relatively new to this so I have attached the file.

Maybe it is the odd shape that doesn't allow extrusion? (holes)

You cannot extrude a block.  Explode it first. Then use mpedit to convert all the lines into separate closed polylines.  Then extrude each one.  If this is supposed to be a panel with holes, then convert the plines into regions and use the subtract command to create a holy region.  Then extrude that.

Alternative technique:  Use boundary to  create all the closed lwpolylines.  Erase the block and continue creating the region and then the extrusion.

Ok, thanks. I am a bit confused with types because everything looks the same ^^

Turn on your properties palette (CTRL+1).  When you select the object by picking, the properties and object type(s) will be listed.  If you are a beginner, I highly recommend taking an AutoCAD class that covers the basics.  Look for a college or trade school near you or look for an online course.

This is fine. I only needed to 3D print this object for a custom keyboard project.

You might try Presspull command rather than Extrude.
