Properties dialog box disappears off screen

This is a reoccurring issue for my users that's existed for many years. The AutoCAD Properties dialog box disappears off screen and cannot be recovered at certain times. I believe it's triggered when it's docked as a flyout and the user hovers over it and clicks on the X to close it - just right. I may be hard to duplicate but I still get support calls fairly regularly about it.

This issue is also documented on the Civil 3D Forum here:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-forum/properties-palette-missing/td-p/3502120

My easy solution is, if the users is okay with it, I just reload the user profile (ARG).

I agree that this can be an annoying intermittent problem.  My fix is to hover over the edge of AutoCAD where the palette is docked.  The mouse changes to a double vertical line. Click then and it will pop out and remain stable for a while.

We may be having different issues. That solution doesn't apply here. The Properties Dialog isn't hiding at the edge, it's moved itself to a pixel location off the screen.

I have this issue often because I'm working from a laptop, moving from office to office.  In each office, I have a different monitor configuration (sometimes 1, 2, or 3 monitors).  Depending on the situation, I may move dialogues around to different screens.  The problems comes when I move from one configuration to the next, I may have a dialogue way off of the usable screen area.  I still haven't found a good fix to bring them back in line.  Has anyone found a fix for this yet (short of reloading ARG)?

When I write custom .NET apps for Civil 3d, I always add an F3 hot key to bring my windows home to the current window.  Evidently, Autodesk hasn't considered this yet.

Turn on the Properties window to make it the active window, hold down the Alt-Space-M keys, then use the arrow keys to move the window back on screen.

I found simple fix. Unplug other monitor and it will return to your main screen.

I found this thread via Google search.  I am presently out of the office, and trying to work on a drawing.  The Properties Palette is missing-in-action.  It had been working recently, then I did something (don't recall what), and now I cannot find it anywhere.  When I toggle Properties on/off, I observe a small change in the edge of the C3D window (presently full screen) -- it appears to be a vertical line, about one pixel in width, shifts.  But as I do not have an external monitor presently plugged in, I have nothing to unplug.

Fun and games.  The search goes on for what would seem to be an easy fix.  An F3 button as someone mentioned above would be a welcome fix.

FWIW, and for the next poor soul that stumbles across this C3D "feature"... I stumbled across the following technique that managed to resolve my issue (only has cost me 30-45min to figure it out):

In my situation, I had the Layer Properties Manager and Design Center docked on the left.  I made each active in turn, dragging their "title bar" (for lack of a better description) out onto the screen to turn them into floating windows.  After the last docked palette had turned into a floating window, my Properties Palette magically re-appeared.  (I do not recall if it showed up docked, or was itself a floating palette.)  Once it re-appeared, I turned it into a floating palette.  Then I was able to click on each palette in turn and re-dock them on the left.  What a PIA.

@camptech Glad you found a solution. This had happened to me numerous times. It is possible to grab that thin vertical line on the edge of the screen and drag your palette open. It takes a few tries since it's 1 pixel wide.

You can also go to your display settings and change the display from multiple monitors to single monitor and back to multiple monitors.  Works everytime.

Much appreciated.

I tried everything else, then saw this suggestion.  I tried it, and it worked.  Wish I 'd seen this first!!
