Problems with splines; Offsetting and joining

I have been having several problems with splines.

I try to offset and it freezes and crashes.

If the offset does work, it breaks the spline into a million little pieces (what am i to do now? click on everyone and re join them?!?)

If I have two co-planar splines and join them, the offset still breaks it up in to more pieces.

3D model was made with inventor.

I cannot post the actual model as it is for Patent drawings.

I have extracted a few lines that are driving me crazy.

"TEST.dwg"

Offsetting purple curves inward freezes my machine. what do I do?

Offsetting vertical curve breaks it into tiny pieces. what do i do?

Joining the horizontal and then offsetting still breaks it into pieces. what do i do?

I'm tired, just completely tired of all the crashes and hiccups for lines and curves so simple.

Then multiply this error by 15713 (the amount of lines per drawing) and you can see why i am so frustrated with this.

If your PC is freezing (not doing it here with your sample file and instructions), you probably have a PC overwhelmed by AutoCAD. Worth trying to turn off hardware acceleration in GRAPHICSCONFIG command to see if that helps.

Offsetting the purple curves inward works for your computer?

what should my setting be? NVIDIA Quadro 600

what about breaking the splines?

any feedback?

Splines have been troublesome for 30+years in AutoCAD.
OFFSET is very particular too, it is really not a good replacement for redrawing splines at an adjacent location, you kind of have to learn when to recognize their limitations.

Use SPLINEDIT command to convert them to Plines then offset away: keep in mind your curves of not offset cleanly depending on direction, that's just the nature of the program. Not much you can do about it.

so........

essentially a newer better graphics card should fix the freeze ups?

I have autocad 2025 and still have this problem!! Just tried to offset a spline and it completely froze CAD, had to force stop the program. Doing a splinedit and converting to pline fixed the problem still.
