Problem with plot preview window

My plot preview window displays blank white printable area instead of one with 45 degree line pattern.
Is there any way to add 45 degree line pattern to it?

this is NOT plot preview.this area shows an accurate representation of the effective plot area relative to the paper size and printable area.and to show the plot preview you have to press Preview button at the lower left corner in the same dialog.

Sorry that I used wrong terms. I am new to Autocad and am trying to get familiar with all its tools and commands.
Could you please help me figure out why there is no diagonal lines in this area?
It used to have diagonal lines in this area but now it only display as a blank space (as shown in above picture).
I really want those diagonal lines back.

Hi,

honestly i don't (for now) have an explanation for this issue.BUT the question is why you need this diagonal lines ? it has NO effect to your drawing whether it's exist or not. 

Note:

• try to restart your PC and see if the issue still or not.
• if not fixed try to Reset your settings to default.  >> Click <<
