Printing Area boundary line

Printing Area boundary line

Hi to all you professionals out there I have an exercise file that was downloaded to go with a tutorial and in one particlur file there is a drawing in the Model space obviously, along with a named layout tab and Viewport - then in it or on it (the Layout tab) it has the dotted printable area around the Viewport but when I open another Layout tab the Printable dotted line does not appear and nor does it in subsequent layout tabs I open...

In the OPtions Plotting setup page the printable area is checked I unchecked and re-check it but still no printable area on new layout tabs. I am baffled that it is visible in in one Layout Tab, the one next to the Model-space tab, but not any new ones I open...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

>> it has the dotted printable area around the Viewport but when I open

>> another Layout tab the Printable dotted line does not appear

This depends on the device and the paper-format activated for that layout.

Start command _PAGESETUP for each layout and verify both settings.

Hi thank you for your help Alfred but Alas it didn't work...I have noticed on Youtube tutorials every time they open a new Layout tab in AutoCad by default, the Printable dotted area border line around the sheet appears automatically....I didn't think you had to 'opt in' so to spaeak to see the dashed printing area....Imay be wrong

What do you think Alfred?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

That depends on the settings of the default device you have configured.

But the question is not the same you asked, in your first message you wrote "change to another layout" ... which means another layout already existed and had already set it's page-setup.

Anyway, I never think about my default settings when I "create a new layout". In most cases I use an existing layout and duplicate it (or import it from another drawing).

If I really have to create a new layout from scratch I start immediately into the page-setup and set the device and paper-format. So I also get always the same printable area displayed.
