prevent command prompt text from following my cursor

Hi,

I am using AutoCAD 2018. When I choose the LINE command, I see the prompt "Specify first point:" on the Command Line.  When I move my cursor into my drawing area, this same prompt "Specify first point:" follows my cursor along with fields that show the coordinates of my current cursor location, or that allow me to enter a specific location.

I find this feature distracting and would like to turn if OFF, but I don't know what it is called or where to find it.

If anyone can help me figure this out, I would greatly appreciate it.

That is dynamic input. Change the DYNMODE variable to 0

yes that's right as mentioned above ... also F12 will solve your problem.
